A former student of HPS (1985), Sanjay Gaddam writes to Purnachandra:
All our hearts felt that vague pain that you get when you lose someone
dear. Umesh's demise has made us feel that way. He certainly will be
missed. I never met him after school but I sure wish I did. He was an
exceptionally great individual, who would have made a difference in the
lives of everyone and made our homeland a safe Haven for our children to
grow up in. I am very proud to have rubbed shoulders with such a great
person. I sincerely appreciate your dedication of this weeks Sri Weekly to
Umesh.
A former student of HPS (1985), Srinivas Burugupalli writes to
Purnachandra:
Umesh was a courageous officer and made a mark in every assignmentand
responsibility he undertook. He used to assess the situation where ever he
went based on peoples problems, what they lacked and used to tackle it
with utmost dedication. Back home I used to read every news item that
concerned him and was very proud that he belonged to our Alma mater. Umesh
made a huge difference in the perception of people towards police. He did
what was right, which made him approachable to all the right minded people
but in the process also made lots of different kinds of enemies. No
one expected the incident to take place but there are always some insane
elements in the society who do not want good things to continue as their
selfish and unreasonable wants won't meet.
Another former classmate, Sandeep Reddy writes to Purnachandra:
I feel really sad to think even now about Umesh. In fact I had
lost touch with him from the time we left school and I had met him only at
Purnachandra's wedding. In fact, when everybody be talking about him and
praising him about his service in Cuddapah and other areas, I used to feel
so proud to tell them that he was my classmate in HPS.
