Ramesh Vudathu writes:
I have gone through the total website. Though I am not
aware of the incident, after seeing the story, I felt very disturbed to
note that such a great officer who won the accolades of his
sub-ordinates, peer groups, and especially the people could be brutally
murdered by the naxalite groups. What wrong has he done apart from his duties
that he has to get separated from his beautiful family and leaving his
innocent kid fatherless.
I had one opinion on the naxalites formation and their cause, but now
it looks like they are attacking honest officers for their existence. I
don't know if I am totally true about that, but I seriously condemn
this killing and deepest empathy to their family.

I really feel that India lost a good administrator and a very
dedicated police officer. I read about him a year ago when I was in india.
I am really sorry about this.

UMESH CHANDRA WAS AN EMBODIMENT OF "RIGHT OVER WRONG"!
HE DID NOT GIVE UP HIS LIFE IN VAIN. HE HAS SET AN EXAMPLE FOR THE
YOUTH OF INDIA, THROUGH HIS MARTYRDOM!!
HIS UNFLINCHING SENSE OF SERVICE, AND THE LOYALTY HE INSPIRED AMONGST
THE PEOPLE HE SERVED IS A TRIBUTE TO HIS HUMANENESS!!!
MAY GOD GRANT HIS WIFE, SON AND EXTENDED FAMILY, THE STRENGTH TO CARRY
ON AND CELEBRATE HIS MEMORY!!!!
Purnachandra Kotha, a former classmate, writes:
I still cannot believe that Umesh is no longer with us. I am
trying to re-live and cherish every moment we spend together and
I cannot stop the tears in my eyes, when I last saw him at his
residence in June, 1998.
I want to congratulate Satish, Umesh's family and friends for
accomplishing so much by putting this complete and comprehensive
web site together. I have learnt a lot about my friend's good
deeds to the society.
We need to do our part to keep his ideals alive and I am looking
forward for the trust formation so that we can collect money for
the good causes.

I think
Per chance I got to the site on Sri Umesh Chandra.
The treatment meted out to him is a manifestation of
the total lack of two core human values of truth and
non-violence. These were the foundations of Gandhian
movement, but were totally forgotten by one and all
almost from the very first day of independence.
May Umesh Chandra's sacrifice remind one and all of the need to
achieve real freedom for the country - freedom
from violence and untruth.
With warmest regards
